The last time I wrote a foodie review was a long time ago.
Frankly, this review is not really planned.
What made me change my mind?
The establishment itself.
It is worth my time.
My eldest sister and her husband was the one who discovered the place first.
Last night, I went here to eat dinner with my two sisters.
The name of the restaurant is “Geni’s Cafe”/”Geni’s Fusion Cuisine”.
Location: Salem Complex, Domestic Road, Ninoy Aquino Airport Area, Pasay City
(Across NAIA Terminal 4, near Shakeys)
On their menu, you can find a brief background about the entrepreneur behind the cafe.
YES, she’s a former flight attendant!!
(My dream job :>) ❤
Let’s get physical!
This is the cafe from outside.
With what you can see from the photo, it looks like any other establishment here in Manila.
Nothing really special or catchy.
Having studied Marketing for 3 years, the power of Advertising should never be overlooked.
Though their servers say that they are full especially during lunch time, I suggest that they work on their branding a bit more.
As soon as you get in, look to your left and you’ll see this..
Across it is this:
Just a small showcase with three samples of fondant cakes that you can order from them.
Apart from the cafe being well lit, one thing I admire about the cafe is the color scheme!
The colors they used to design the place go very well with each other.
Here is a closer look at their table.
And now the best part.. the FOOD.
As you may have noticed in their name, they serve fusion cuisine.
It means that they don’t serve just one type of food – talk about flexibility!
*check out the bottom of this post for their complete menu*
For the appetizer, they served us Honey Brown Bread with butter – 5☆
OF ALL THE PLACES I’VE TRIED THAT HAS BREAD FORTHEIR APPETIZER, THIS IS MY FAVORITE.
I don’t know how they did it but even though the bread wasn’t newly baked, the texture of the bread was perfect.
It had a crunch that makes you want to eat and eat and eat the bread.
To add to this, the butter that comes with it is not tasteless!
Rather than the ordinary butter served at restaurants, theirs seem to have a rich taste in it.
Without a doubt, I gave their appetizer 5★.
Now for the main entrees..
Baked Salmon – 5☆
I don’t have anything negative to say about this dish. For me, it seems like it was delivered straight from heaven! 😛
On a more serious note..
Though you may not be able to identify it, the salmon is actually coated with mashed potato.
The salmon was perfectly cooked.
It is tender but not too tender that it feels undercooked.
The sprinkled paprika or chili powder (I’m not sure) gives the dish a hint of spiciness that complements the cream-based sauce very well.
For those on a diet, I highly recommend this!
Just ask the server to have the sauce separated so you can control the portion of the sauce.
Red Chicken Curry – 3☆
As you can see from the photo above, the sauce of this dish is not that opaque.
It is a bit thin for my liking.
As with the chicken pieces, it is cooked evenly.
The meat is tender and when you bite it, you can see from the meat that the sauce has penetrated the inside which makes it flavorful.
Since this is mainly an Indian dish, it was a bit spicy.
The base of the sauce is cream and for me, it lacked a bit of the “oomph” factor.
On the flip side, my sister liked their eggplant so much.
Beef Masala – 4.5☆
Beef is one type of meat which is hard to cook.
If it is undercooked, it is tough – like your chewing rubber.
When overcooked, it’ll feel like your eating chicken flakes.
BUT.. this dish?
It seems like they had zero problem in cooking the meat!
If you look closely at the dish, you will see that there are a lot of different herbs & spices in it!
They are generous with the ingredients they added to this dish and because of that, it became really flavorful.
One thing I noticed though is that because it is a bit too flavorful, it is best eaten with rice.
So for those who try to stay away from carbohydrates, I suggest you pick another dish.
Nevertheless, this dish is delicious and worth a try!
Few carbs wouldn’t hurt.
Sweets it is!
Red Velvet Cheesecake – 3.5☆
The first thing I noticed?
The generous serving size.
With this slice, one to three people can actually share!
If you try and have a taste of all the layers together, the flavor just explodes in your mouth.
The cake base complements the cheesecake so well.
Since I am not a fan of too (“too” is subjective) sweet desserts, I’d prefer the dessert to have more red velvet cake.
But then again.. we ordered a cheesecake so it is a bit expected that the cheesecake part of the dessert should be the main base. 😛
Blueberry Cheesecake – 3.0☆
It could’ve been better.
Sorry for the straight forward remark but I honestly am a big fan of blueberry cheesecakes.
Don’t get me wrong..
The dish was yummy but there is something – I’m not sure what – that is lacking.
Compared to the red velvet cheeecake, this is creamier.
Also, the dessert has strong flavors which makes the blueberry and the cheesecake fight for the attention of the one eating.
A softer crust would make the dessert better in my opinion.
Below is a picture of me with my two sisters before eating our dessert ^^
All in all, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend that you try eating here.
Definitely a hole-in-the-wall.
One for the books!
Ambiance – 5/5
Servers – 5/5
Price – 4.5/5
Food – 4/5
Satisfaction – 9/10
Recommend: Definitely YES.
Here is their menu:
P.S. I saw in one of their posters that they have lunch sets as well. 😛
Again, please please credit properly. All photos above are mine.

As you may have guessed already…
I plan to blog every single day of this year.
Not only do I want to keep this blog active but I also want to improve my writing.
250 words per blog post will be my minimum.
As early as now, I want to clarify that not everything that I post might make sense to you.
It will cover random things from what happened at work (yes, work) to my biases to new discoveries to my reactions on articles and such.
And to explain what I mean by work..
As I have said before here, I will have a term away from school to discover myself more and to give my dad’s craft a chance.
Who knows.. I might actually love it after trying it right?
I’ve come to realize – with the help of the internet – that since I’m going to be entering my 20s soon which is crucial for self-growth, I should dedicate this year for myself and for myself only.
Yes, I know that sounds a bit selfish but I really want this year to be for self-improvement.
I want to love myself.
Not that I do not.. but I don’t think I love myself that much.
Okay I admit that there are times that I feel that I am conceited or whatnot but there is something deep within me that doesn’t accept what I am fully.
I have a lot of insecurities that no one else knows but me.
I want to remove them all and prove to myself that I shouldn’t be feeling what I am feeling about my issues right now.
I really want to give myself a present for my 21st birthday next year and that gift is my improved self.
What do you think? 🙂
As lonely as it may sound, I tried going to the mall by myself.
I used to think that being in a public place alone is just lonely, sad and it should be avoided as much as possible.
But today, I proved myself wrong.
I didn’t go here with totally nothing to do.
My first agenda was to have my patron ticket changed to a VIP for an additional charge.
Second was to hunt for a perfect dress for that event.
And third, well.. that is all.
Before, when I’m at the mall alone while waiting for someone, I always feel uneasy.
I dislike being alone in such a crowded place.
Even the thought of it makes me agitated.
Maybe because it is a Thursday so there aren’t much people at the mall but the feeling was different.
I enjoyed walking alone and going into different stores.
I dined alone for the very first time!
My seat was beside the window so I was able to see the people walking and vice versa.
This is my first time that I went out alone and I didn’t regret it!
It was relaxing and I actually enjoyed it.
Try it sometime. 🙂

Yes, that’s me!!
Just last Sunday, April 7, 2013, I went to Rebublic Wakepark in Nuvali to wakeboard with my cousins.
It wasn’t really planned and we only talked about it online for a week.
Good thing that we were all up for the adventure.
We had so much fun – even though I must admit that I still wasn’t successful in completing the course.
We also had dinner together and just bonded for the whole day.
Two days have passed but my body is still sore but it is all worth it!
It is like that good kind of pain in my case.
We will definitely try wakeboarding again!
Try it too ^^
안녕하새요 여러분 / Annyeonghaseyo yeoreobun / Hello everyone!
What is a dream chest?
A dream chest is a container which I plan to put my dream or simple wishes on a paper, roll them and place them in here. I plan to open it afterwards to check what wishes and dreams I had that came true or I have done. 🙂
Dream and simple wishes?
Yes! No matter how big or small it is. From having a ribbon collection to probably having your own home or plane!
A form of inspiration I guess? And a reminder of the kind of things I wanted and wished for. I also personally believe in the Law of Attraction.
How to have one?
Well, just get a container and pieces of paper and a pencil and voila! 🙂 As for me, I got my mini chest from a hardware store. Pretty weird right? Haha. But there are a lot of containers in dollar stores and quaint shops. It need not be expensive!
When do you plan to open them?
As of now, I can’t really tell yet. Back in 2011, I remember I wanted to open it 10 years after. As of now though, some I’ve written are still not possible so I’m planning to extend it to 15 or probably 20 years?? 🙂
Bucket List = Dream Chest?
Yes, somewhat. 🙂 Though I plan to have an online bucket list, I still want to update my dream chest because we have dreams that are too personal and I’m shy to post ’em and.. just because! It is cute too!! :>
I must admit that I haven’t really updated my dream chest because of school and other things –and I somehow just forgot to– but I promised myself to update it as much as I can together with my virtual bucket list!
Though I cannot remember everything I’ve written on the papers in my dream chest, as much as I can, I will include them together with my new dream places, things to have and things to do which will be a bit more detailed in here.
I don’t think putting it here as post is the best option cause I’ll be constantly updating it.
How about on the side? or bottom? or beside my about section? Hmm. I shall think about it.
My Dream Chest so far. No limitations. ♥
After much contemplation on what my first entry should be about, I decided to write about me and this journal as a whole.
I must admit that I’m still a noob at writing and that I may not be the best writer ever but rest assured that what I will be sharing will only be what I deem as the truth + some random happenings and rants in my life.
Just like what my tagline says, “A little girl wandering and exploring the world to find the beauty in all things. Eat. Learn. Travel. Inspire. Love. A backpacker someday”, I am a NINEteen year old college student – though people tell me that I am pretty much mature for my age – who loves to eat, learn from and listen to others, travel to as many places as I could, share what I know and an aspiring backpacker.
Expect to read random posts from here like what happened to my day, restaurant and food reviews – even recommendations, bags & wallets, shoes (which I love), novels I’ve read or am reading, posts related to Korea and its culture + my biases, travel-related posts and so much more.
An outlet of me is what I would like to call this journal since I plan to update it as much as I could and express myself without fear. I am a bit OC at certain things, sarcastic at times and too hyperactive as well but I am pretty much up for anything.
